The Victor Borge Listen & Learn Program began as a companion program to Landmarks’ Candlelight classical music concert series, with the aim of presenting classical music to children and seniors. It has grown to include an array of opportunities to learn about music, dance and song as taught by tradition bearers from the Virgin Islands and beyond.
Workshops are open to schools, summer programs and senior citizen centers and are held at the Island Center for the Performing Arts, local schools and at the Estate Whim Museum.
Workshops are planned around Candlelight and World Music Under the Stars concerts. Additional workshops will focus on lesser-known Quelbe and Cariso songs, their origin, composers and singers. "Quadrille 101" and "Bamboula: More Than a Dance" will offer opportunities to learn the traditional dances of the Virgin Islands.
Unless otherwise noted, workshops begin at 10:00 a.m.
